Introducing Some New and Expanded Content!!!

For quite awhile now, I've been toying with the idea of bringing together more of my creative endeavors into one place.  I intended for this to be solely a blog about writing, but I've encountered a few problems with that model.  One is that I find it hard to find time to write, let alone come up with a blog post about the process, on any sort of regular basis.  Another is that I don't usually wish to share my ideas and drafts before they are formed better in my mind and - preferably - on published paper.  But then looking back on the process and trying to come up with something to say about it all after the fact isn't the easiest thing, either.  By then I will have moved on to some other project or two, as well!

And speaking of other projects, I've got a lot more on the go lately than just writing my next amazing novel.  All of which is what brought me to the decision I've now made - to join together all of my little side projects into one incredibly well-rounded blog.  A place I can pull together all of my ideas and wonderings and exciting pieces of news, in a reader-friendly venue, so that it can all be shared with as many of you as possible, and maybe even pick up a follower or two along the way!

So sit back and take a look at what all is coming up for your reading, viewing and listening pleasure from now on, after the jump below!  :)

Good grief

Things have been busy.  And I have been tired.  I haven't really taken the time to write lately, which is why I haven't taken even more time (even less?  wait...what?) to write anything here.  There's not much to update, really.

So Many Projects, So Little Time

Good grief - it's been awhile, sorry!  I've been having problems with my eye for the past month, and most of my time off has been spent going to various doctor appointments to see if we can figure out what's wrong.  There's no end in sight (haha - sight - get it?) just yet, but in the meantime, I have also managed to take some baby steps on a number of different things, so that's something!

Everything Happens At Once

At least, that's how it seems sometimes.  I only have a few minutes to write this post (I'm at work), so I'll make it quick!

I got my ABNA entry in, easy peasy.  I finished editing the manuscript around 11:25pm, then poured a well-earned rum & coke to celebrate.  I'd fully anticipated that there would be a huge backlog of people all trying to upload their entries at the bell, and I was completely prepared for that.

What I wasn't prepared for was having no trouble whatsoever, and being done within the first 20 minutes.  I mean, I'd barely touched whatever number rum & coke I was on at that point!  But everything loaded smoothly, except my author photo, which I took the time to resize to make it fit the entry form.  Even with that, I was done quickly, and had some time to kill.  So naturally I went to the contest message boards, and updated Twitter and Facebook.

I'd been putting off a couple of other projects while I got my entry ready, so the next morning, I began to turn my attention back to them.  Browncoat magnet sets.  Ebon Black editing (and some huge waffling on how long it should end up being).

And I got another idea for a book, this time a Young Adult fantasy-ish tale; the subject of which, to my knowledge, has never really been done before.  So I am excited about that, too.

Oh, and I finally got prizes drawn for the Spot The Ad contest I ran while my Ryerson Chang School ad was up.  I'm started handing them out to the winners, and am actually having fun doing so - I'm so glad I ran that wee contest!  :)

OK, that's it for my lunch break - back to the day job!

Until soon,

S.A.M.

For The Browncoats!!!

I've been debating about whether or not to mention this here, as it's not exactly something that I "wrote", per se, so I wasn't sure whether it should be included as part of this blog, or not.

But really, it's creative.  And it involves words.  And it has taken up a lot of my time and energy lately.  I am kinda proud of it, AND there will be versions for Carving The Light and Ebon Black soon, as well, so I figured, what the heck?  Throw it up and see what happens!  ;)

For all you Browncoats out there, I have created our very own fridge magnet poetry set!  You can find it on Etsy and Ebay, so go have a look at the newly revamped Magnet-y Poetical Lingo For Browncoats!

http://www.etsy.com/listing/64081725/browncoat-fridge-magnet-poetry-set

I cut them by hand, which is more time-consuming and body-hurting than it sounds!  lol

And I package them all in wee Chinese food take-out boxes to make 'em appear more stylish and irresistably cute!

So go take a look...I'm getting faster at assembling them now, so I should be able to get orders shipped out quickly now.  And if I see you in person, all the better, because it'll save you on ridiculous shipping charges!  ;)

In the meantime, keep watching for my Ryerson ad around the city of Toronto, and enter the Spot The Ad contest for your chance to win!  Please also take a moment to check out the free preview of my next project, Ebon Black and the Seven Dryads!

Lots on the go...'tis the season, I suppose!  So, with all that in mind, happy holidays one and all!

Until soon,

S.A.M.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Safe to say that, as far as writing goes, today will be a total write-OFF.
